The 2008 FOS program is underway. There are a number of activities on-going:
FunSail Nights - FOS encourages participants to arrage a FunSail event on any evening or day when there is no scheduled event. Gather a group of fellow participants and friends and take the Ideal 18's for a sail followed by a picnic/barbeque on the clib grounds. If you wish to arrange a FunSail event contact fos@tayc.com to request a date and indicate how many boats you wish to reserve. Remember that one Checked Out FOS Participant must be onboard each boat and any alcoholic beverages must be purchased from the club if it is open for any reason at the time.
FOS Women's Sailing Program has been launched and is in full swing. The group meets on Tuesday nights. Activities include instructional talks, on-water coaching, leisurely sailing and a monthly pot luck picnic after the sail. All interested Women should contact fos@tayc.com for further information.
Free Sail periods occur every day when no group event is scheduled. There are lots of opportunities for a casual sail. Sign into TAYC.com to reserve a boat for free sail or just come down, there is usually one available. Free Sail policy - if there is a boat on the dock 30 minutes after the beginning of a reservation session, it is first come, first served. Experience has shown that a boat is always available for a walk-up sail.
Monday Night Racing - The Spring series ended on June 9. The Summer Series begins on June 23 and continues every Monday night through August 11. The Fall Series follows. Come alone and pair up with others or bring crew. All FOS participants receive Skipper and Crew points toward our high-point awards.
Chalk Talk and Sail - Participants listen to an informative lecture on one aspect of sailing and racing, then practice what they heard on the water. Watch FOS News e-mails for spefic dates and topics.
Championship Regattas - The FOS Summer Championship Regatta was held on June 7. The Fall regatta will be held on October 4. The Regattas are open to all FOS participants with points awarded for skipper and crew performances.
