Focus on Sailing is TAYC's adult sailing program designed to:

• Increase sailing opportunities for adults of all ages and skill levels
• Provide easy, inexpensive access to sailing
• Improve sailing and racing skills
• Create opportunities for quality time on the water with friends and family

The Program Boat  is the Ideal 18—an open, stable keelboat that is easily singlehanded with self-tacking jib or raced by two people using its spinnaker. It is comfortable for 4 adults.

 Boat Reservations Policy

To reserve FreeSail boat use times, you must:

1. Be a registered participant of FOS
2. Have signed and returned a completed 2008 Participant Agreement
3. Have been "checked out" by a FOS Certifier
4. Have established a reservation system password following successful "check out"

FreeSail time slots are 0930 to 1300, 1330 to 1700 and 1730 to Sunset daily except when organized events are scheduled or when boats are unavailable for other conflicts. Note: Walk up use without a reservation is permitted at any time as long a boat is available at the dock 30 minutes after a FreeSail time slot begins. Walk up users should return to the dock before the next FreeSail time slot begins. Participants using boats are asked to follow the check-out and check-in procedures described in the FOS Program Guide

The current schedule (subject to change - watch for FOS Weekly e-mail) of 2008 events is as follows:

• FreeSail Season
  • April 14 to November 30
• Monday Night Racing - informal racing for high point awards. First warning 1800.
  • Spring Session - April 21 to June 9
  • Summer Session - June 23 to August 11
  • Fall Session - August 25 to October 6
• Distance Races - longer, around the buoys race course. Warning 1800.
  • May 28 and August 20
• Championship Regatta Series - racing for club champion points. Skipper Meeting 0930.
  • Summer - June 7
  • Fall - October 4
• Chalk Talk & Sail - Racing/sailing skill seminar followed by practice drills. Talk begins 1730.
• May 8 and 22
• June 5 and 19
• July 3, 17 and 31
• August 14 and 28
• September 11 and 25
• Picnic Cruises. Set Sail 1030.
  • June 14

• Sunday Frostbite Racing. First warning 1330.
  • Fall - October 26 to December 14 (conditions permitting)
