In 2006, a group of TAYC sailors felt that increased opportunities for easy access, low cost active sailing participation at the club were needed to meet the general interest level. In order to increase the ranks of active sailors at TAYC, this group became the Focus On Sailing Program Development Committee and began building the adult sailing program now known simly as “FOS”. The program was started in 2007 and was generally considered to be a success by heavy and light users alike and its programs and activities have been enhanced in response to participant ideas ever since. Focus on Sailing:
The Ideal 18 is an open keelboat which is easily single-handed with its self-tacking jib or competitively raced with two people using its spinnaker. The Ideal 18 can seat up to four adults or two adults and up to three small children, making it perfect for family outings. The boat is equipped with four adult size PFD’s so adults bringing children along must provide properly fitting PFD’s for them.
The Focus on Sailing Program requires registration and payment of participant dues to support maintenance expenditures, social events, trophies, etc. To sign up, download the FOS Participant Form, fill it out and return it to the Club Manager or FOS Committee Chair, If you have questions, contact the FOS Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org.
