jr. sailing program 2013 registration

A few forms are required to enroll into the TAYC Jr. Sailing Program. Start by submitting the Online Registration below. The following enrollment forms must be received to finalize each junior registration: Codes of Conduct and General Release, Parent Volunteer, and the Health Information Forms. Most classes fill at 10 sailors, so we encourage you to register now and mail in your completed enrollment forms as soon as possible. No sailor may participate with incomplete enrollment forms or an outstanding balance.

Non-members must be sponsored by a member, and approved by the Jr. Sailing Committee. If you have any questions about the TAYC Jr. Sailing Program, please contact Scott Williamson, Program Director, at juniorsail@tayc.com.

Introduction to Sailing

Boats: Club maintained Optimists and Ideal 18s

Morning Option (IS-AM), Monday - Thursday (9 am - 12 pm), juniors are welcome to return for Wednesday Night Activities (3 - 7 pm). Parents and families are invited to gather to watch junior races and on-the-water activities at 5:30 pm.
 
Note: IS-AM 1-2 & 3-4 are FULL. All other morning sessions are 80% full. Several spots available for afternoon sessions. NEW full-day sessions are available to support sailors ready for more instruction and a longer day on the water. If this meets the needs of your sailor, register for a back-to-back AM and PM class.
 

Note: The cost of boat maintenance is included in the rates – $30 per class.

Afternoon Option (IS-PM), Monday - Thursday (1 - 3 pm), juniors are welcome to stay for Wednesday Night Activities (3 - 7 pm). Parents and families are invited to gather to watch junior activities at 5:30 pm.

Beginner 1 & 2

Boats: Optimists

Boat Rental: $50 per week. Send an email to juniorsail@tayc.com to check availability before submitting this registration. Boats are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis with a rental agreement and full payment.  Download the Beginner 1 & 2 Rental Agreement.

Class Days & Times: Monday - Thursday (9 am - 3 pm), juniors may stay for Wednesday Night Activities (3 - 7 pm). Parents and families are invited to gather to watch junior activities at 5:30 pm.

Note: The class is 80% full.

Private Lessons

Boats: Optimists, Lasers, C420s, and Ideal 18s (Unless privately owned, boats must be rented through the program director to faclitate lessons.) 

Class Days & Times: Monday and Tuesday after regular instruction ends, from 3 - 6 pm.

Hourly lessons are possible with any coach on staff. These lessons are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Contact the program director to confirm available dates and to book the coach of your choice (juniorsail@tayc.com).  Adult Lessons are availble too!

Rates: Member - $20 per hour, Non-Member - $30 per hour, Guest Juniors and Adults - $40 per hour

Semi-Private Options:

Apply a 15% discount per sailor in a group of two

Apply a 20% discount per sailor in a group of three

Groups over three must enroll in a class offering.

Sportsman

Boats: Optimists, Lasers, C420s, and keelboats

Class Days & Times: Monday - Thursday (9 am - 3 pm), juniors may stay for Wednesday Night Activities (3 - 7 pm). Parents and families are invited to gather to watch junior races at 5:30 pm.

Note: 1 spot remains for the first four weeks. The class is 60% full during the last four weeks.

Opti Green Fleet

Boats: Optimists

Class Days & Times: Monday - Thursday (9 am - 3 pm), juniors may stay for Wednesday Night Races (3 - 7 pm). Parents and families are invited to gather to watch junior races at 5:30 pm. Prizes are awarded to Green Fleeters after the races each Wednesday night. See the regatta list on the Class Offerings page to understand the full schedule.

Note: A second coach will support the 13 sailors on the team during the first four weeks! Two more sailors could join the team for these weeks. The last four weeks are 75% full.

Note: A $25 fee per junior is included in the rates to support stocking regatta coolers to ensure juniors are safely hydrated on the water.

TAYC Opti Racing Team

Boats: Optimists

Class Days & Times: Monday - Thursday (9 am - 3 pm), juniors may stay for Wednesday Night Races (3 - 7 pm). Parents and families are invited to gather to watch junior races at 5:30 pm. Some practices or regattas may occur on other days of the week (see the Class Offerings page to understand the full schedule).

*New 2 Week Clinic Option (ORT 2): Returning juniors or those with two or more seasons of experience may register for two weeks to practice and receive coaching at a scheduled regatta during the two weeks.

Note: Only 2 spots remain for week two! Other weeks are roughly 75% full. Keep in mind that any registered junior on the team may add an extra week to lengthen the session options for an additional $150. For example, turn the 2 week clinic into 3 weeks, or the 4 week session into 5, etc. Contact Scott Williamson for more details (juniorsail@tayc.com).

Note: Overnight regattas will require additional fees to support coaching. These costs are divided between the participating families. Guest juniors are welcome to join a practice or get coaching at a scheduled regatta with the team ($65 per day). C420/Laser Development Team

Boats: C420s and Lasers

Boat Rental: $80 per week. Send an email to juniorsail@tayc.com to check availability before submitting this registration. Boats are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis with a rental agreement and full payment. Download the C420/Laser Rental Agreement.

Class Days & Times: Monday - Thursday (9 am - 3 pm), juniors may stay for Wednesday Night Races (3 - 7 pm). Parents and families are invited to gather to watch junior races at 5:30 pm. Some practices or regattas may occur on other days of the week (see the Class Offerings page to understand the full schedule).

*New 2 Week Clinic Option (4LD 2): Returning juniors or those with two or more seasons of experience may register for two weeks to practice and receive coaching at a scheduled regatta during the two weeks.

*Tuition is non-refundable after June 1st. All registrations are contingent upon sailor’s ability to pass a swim test. Submit this registration and mail the following enrollment forms

to the program registering to join a racing team also need to submit a recommendation letter from a previous coach.
